Parent & Carer Relationships

Positive connections between families and educators have been shown to improve children’s development, social competencies and emotional wellbeing. We believe that families play a vital role in how we care and program for each individual child within our service.

We value all family input within our educational programs and use this information to support each child’s ongoing development. Family input is encouraged on a weekly basis using a variety of communication techniques, to ensure we are giving each family the opportunity to provide ideas and feedback on our program and overall operations. Family members are always welcome to come to the centre during the day to engage in our program or for special events as part of our OPEN DOOR policy. We love families visiting the centre and sharing their unique skills as additional education opportunities (for example a parent who is a chef coming in and engaging in a cooking experience with the children). We feel this adds an extra depth to our program and gives the children an opportunity to connect further with their families, enhancing their sense of belonging.

“Every day, in a 100 small ways, our children ask, ‘Do you hear me? Do you see me? Do I matter?’ Their behaviour often reflects our response.”
